Report Writing
Ms. Stedman’s 3rd class pupils did some excellent report writing about their trip to athletics.
Athletics Championship
Classification
The athletics group went to Greystones to do a variety of athletic events.
The pupils from 3rd to 6th class who qualified went to represent the school.
They competed against other schools in the county.
Description
The group travelled by bus to the venue. We chose our base camps to put our bags before we started the athletics events. There was a racing track all around the outside and in the centre there were grassy areas for the tug of war, javelin, the high jump and the long jump.
The races took place at different times and we waited until our group was called.
At 10:30am the 3rd class girls were called for our distance race and we ran 500m.
The pupils who passed the line 1st, 2nd or 3rd were given a ticket to show their position. We competed in a relay race against 5 other schools. The 3rd class girls won the relay race. Both 3rd and 4th class took part in the tug of war and they won the event. There was also javelin throwing. Each javelin thrower had three chances to hit it the furthest. Some people took part in two events. There was also the sprint heats and finals. Our school did not take part in the high jump or long jump but other schools did.
Conclusion
The day was very enjoyable and the medals were handed out to the winners of all the different events. The nice weather and all of the exercise made everybody feel exhausted. Even though it was over and we were feeling tired we were looking forward to going again. We are looking forward to doing more athletics events in 4th class. Our school won 38 medals in total.
