An Amphibious Update

Hi folks,

Just a quick update from our Science Project. The tadpoles are devolping nicely and are on the cusp of becoming froglets. They have now developed front legs, meaning they now no longer use their gills. They now have to breathe air in like us. Also, some of their tails have grown shorter as they are drawn back into their bodies in a process known as ‘apoptosis’. I have linked a video also so you can see them moving as we clean the tank. Excuse the excitement of my lab assistant!

We are approximately at nine weeks

This tadpole is almost a froglet. It is the most developed of the seven. Notice how short his tail has become.
